Principal's Report

Walk-a-thon Results - A huge thank you to our WNPS community for all their support in raising $18,500. A sensational and significant effort by our community! We are now in the process of receiving quotes for the sporting equipment and items we initially set out to fundraise for.

Next term, we will again ask our students for ideas regarding their thoughts on other items to purchase and/or update, almost doubling our fundraising target! Thank you again!

As you can see below, with two major student/family fundraisers, our sponsor KEEP (Kids Emergency Education Project) and our School Council have supported an ‘equal first’ prize with the purchasing of a second bike.

Below are the major contributors to our Walkathon fundraising campaign:

Equal First - Mia A—Year 2M raised $860—$250 Bike voucher from 99 Bikes & Sienna A—Year 6P raised $830—$250 Bike voucher from 99 Bikes.

Second - Louis R—Year 2M raised $380—$100 Smiggle Voucher

Third - Morgan M—Year 5H raised $371—$100 Officeworks Voucher

Forth - Malia W—Year 2M raised $347—$50 Smiggle Voucher

We again thank KEEP for their generosity and School Council for all their support.

Years 3 & 5 - NAPLAN 2022 - As you may know, Individual student NAPLAN reports for Years 3 and 5 students who participated in this year's NAPLAN testing have been distributed to our families. If you have not received your child/ren’s NAPLAN result, please contact the school.

We have been very impressed with our school’s NAPLAN results and thank our parent/carer community for all their support, focus and education over what has been a challenging few years. We also thank our teachers from Foundation – Year 6, as these results are also a reflection of all the teaching and learning across our school.

We strongly encourage our parents and carers to take the time to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements with your child/ren.

STEAM Evening – Thank You - Last Wednesday was our STEAM evening, where we celebrated our love of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

It was amazing to have many displays and exhibits including Art displays of all the WNPS student learning and artwork from their Visual Art specialist. Interactive and fun activities and exhibits such as art and craft, science experiments and technology, robotics, coding and Astronomical Society of Victoria providing their telescopes to view Saturn and Jupiter.

Over the last few weeks, senior students have also had the opportunity to paint the Japanese themed mural in the junior playground.

We thank Dale Evans, Julie Papazisis and staff for all their hard work in leading and organising the event for our students and families and the school community.

2023 Planning - A reminder that we are in the process of planning for the 2023. If you and your family are not to be part of our school community next year, we would appreciate parents/carers notifying us, as soon as possible. This information will support our class structures and recruitment processes for 2023. This will ensure that our leadership team and teachers form well balanced classes that consider all the different needs, characteristics and friendship groups. We thank you for your support.

Thank you, Happy Holidays and Farewell - A huge thank you to all parent/carer and student community for making my experience at WNPS a positive one. We have such beautiful, amazing and talented students with such a caring and supportive parent and carer community.

I have enjoyed each and every opportunity to get to know our community, as well as invite our families back into the school for many of the WNPS school community events.

We wish all our families a safe and relaxing break. Please take the time to enjoy the break and stay safe.

As we welcome Jim Cahill back to our school for Term 4, I wish you and your families all the very best for the rest of the year and with the appointment of a new Principal in Term 1, 2023.

Sincerely,

Matt Naudi - Acting Principal Williamstown North Primary School
