Parade
It was wonderful to see so many families this morning at our Easter Bonnet Parade. Our Foundation to Year 2 students’ hats were outstanding as were some of our Year 3 to 6 students who dressed up as well. It was lovely to see the final products (Easter hats) that our Foundation and Year 6 buddies constructed together.
I would also like to extend a very big thank you to Mr Evans who was an outstanding MC and host for the event and also to Miss Julie and Miss Tammy for all of their work with our JSC in the build up to the parade. It was also lovely to see a substantial donation raised by JSC which will be donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal—$1,248.50.
Excursions
Last week, I was fortunate to be invited on two school excursions. The first excursion I went on was with our school captains to the GRIP Student Leadership Conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Building. Our school captains participated in topics including, ‘How to Be an ‘Others First’ Leader, The People a Leader Can Impact the Most, Ideas that Impact Everybody and How to Get Everybody on Board With a New Idea’. Our school captains impressed me greatly with their enthusiasm, outstanding behaviour and being excellent ambassadors for our school. The second excursion I went on was with the Year 4s to the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show at Carlton Gardens and the Royal Exhibition Building. Our Year 4 classes braved the rain and caught the train to the venue. There were many informative and interesting displays and again our students represented Williamstown North Primary School exceptionally. I would particularly like to thank the parent helpers who volunteered their time and made the excursion that little bit easier for our teachers. It was great for me getting to know our parent helpers.
Staffing
I am very pleased to announce that Mr Kelly will be returning to Year 6K on May 15th. From the start of term 3 until May 12th, Kate Richards will be teaching Year 6K on Mondays and Tuesdays and Jen Crane will be teaching the class Wednesday - Friday. We thank Mr Evans for his work in Year 6K throughout term 1 and we cant wait to have Mr Kelly back at WNPS.
Term 2
I would like to remind families that our first day back at school is Monday 24th May. Tuesday the 25th May is Anzac Day and is a public holiday for all students and staff.
Thank you
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me settle into Williamstown North Primary School during term 1 – it truly is a fantastic school community. Staff have many exciting things planned for term two, including the launch of our new school report format at the end of term 2. We look forward to sharing these with families and seeking feedback early in term 3.
Canteen Update
Commencing Term 2, the Canteen will not be open for lunch orders or over counter sales at recess and lunch. Parents and carers will need to ensure they have provided their child/ren with lunch and snacks on a Tuesday.
Have a wonderful Easter break, stay safe and rest up.

Flower Show
As the train sped through the station the ice-cold rain pelted onto the steel roof. All of our class leaped onto the train as it zoomed away. The second I got outside my shoes were soaked to the bone. All of our group sprinted inside, as soon as we entered, we were blown away by all of the extraordinary flowers. To my right I saw flowers growing out of pool noodles to my left there were amazing wildlife paintings and straight ahead was a bird made out of sticks and leaves. The whole show was amazing but my favorite part was that we got to take home plants (I chose kale). On the way home we had to go down this super scary escalator that almost went directly down. On the train ride home, I looked at all of the beautiful photos that I took. -Luca Year 4L.
